Renowned as the second largest natural harbor in the world, The Port of Trincomalee situated on the north-east cost of Sri Lanka, has a vibrant history of being held by the Portuguese, Dutch, French and the British during the colonial era. This port which mainly is used by bulk and break bulk carriers — is an ideal location for lay-ups. The Port of Trincomalee which includes both an inner and outer harbor handles dry bulk and break bulk vessels as well as oil tankers. The port today has four multipurpose berths and over 750 meters of quay.
